How we can help you

How we work

The VIB Data Core supports researchers through a combination of services, documentation, infrastructure, and tailored guidance.

Know what you need? Request a service

Text

Most standard requests start via VIB Connect. This includes access to existing services, quota changes, software licenses, compute resources, storage, data transfer, and other established support routes.

Questions? Start with our docs

Text

For many questions, the Data Core documentation is the best place to start. It contains practical guidance on using our platforms, requesting access, transferring data, working with compute resources, and following recommended data practices.

Specific needs? Contact us early

Text

For project-specific questions, new workflows, sensitive data, or unclear cases, we recommend contacting us early. Early discussion helps identify the right infrastructure, support route, and responsibilities before a project becomes technically or administratively complex.

What happens after a request?

Text

After a request is submitted, the Data Core team reviews what is needed and determines the appropriate next step. Depending on the request, this may involve granting access, adjusting quota, providing documentation, scheduling onboarding, clarifying requirements, or discussing the project in more detail.

For more complex requests, such as sensitive data workflows, new infrastructure needs, or non-standard analysis setups, we may organize an intake discussion to better understand the project and define a practical route forward.

Roles and responsibilities

Text

The Data Core provides and operates platforms, infrastructure, access control, documentation, onboarding, and support.

Researchers are responsible for choosing the appropriate service route, organizing their data, following documentation and policies, and contacting the Data Core early when their project involves sensitive data, large-scale workflows, unusual requirements, or uncertainty about where to start.
